INTRODUCTION

Introduction

I’m Serena, I’m an NHS GP , health coach and meditation teacher specialising in lifestyle medicine. Asides from wearing many career hats, I live with my hubby and 2.5 year old daughter. I also have endometriosis but this 12 year long condition has never stopped me achieving in my career nor in my personal life. I feel deeply grateful as I know many people suffer with their symptoms. I have travelled to areas off high altitude and to the Arctic Circle, I have sky dived and trekked for 4 days without a shower cubicle in sight. I am here to share my unique method of excelling in your career and to help businesses create something special within their workforce – a deep and caring promise to look after employees which translates to their personal aspirations as well.

I support businesses to redefine their wellbeing services from a reactive to a proactive and holistic approach. Rather than waiting for employees to experience ill health which leads to reduced productivity, profit and time off work, I lead and educate individuals to take actionable and realistic steps in their working day based on the six pillars of lifestyle medicine to create energy, reduce fatigue and burnout. This results in higher productivity, clarity, confidence and reduced ill health, creating a workforce happy to go above and beyond.

1. “Meditate to Elevate”

You will see this in your ROI:  Meditation helps reduce stress, burnout and anxiety as well as promoting a deep sense of compassion, enabling creativity and confidence in your team’s ability. Stress reduction helps to reduce the risk of dementia and other brain related conditions. Experience the highs of meditation and the thrill of this underused and under-rated skill in the corporate world.

What it Involves: No budget to go on that Yoga Retreat ? Fear not, this meditation taster    defines meditation, busts some myths and teaches you some key techniques to thrive at work and at home. No need to sit cross-legged and chant.  From visualising the presentation you have to that meeting about your promotion, meditation will keep your nervous system from never reaching burnout. This service can be designed for a one-off training or could be a weekly course to expand on the 10 techniques of meditation. 


2.“ From Pillars to Productivity “

You will see this in your ROI: Less time off work, a healthy strong and thriving work force. An empowered work force that doesn’t not neglect their health in-hours. I share my insights on common lifestyle related conditions and how to apply lifestyle medicine practices in our day to reduce the time off your team would need. This keeps your work force healthier for longer – regardless of their age.

What It involves: Sharing the six Pillars of lifestyle medicine in a lunch time, their importance and how they can be applied in the day to reduce the risk of lifestyle related conditions. 90% of conditions in General Practice are attributed to lifestyle. This means time off work for symptoms, operations and then coming back on reduced hours. We do not need to feel guilty about missing the gym or getting your 10k steps in. Cheers to that!


3. “ Menopause De-Mystified “: 

You will see this in your ROI: Providing a robust service for your team members will reduce the mental health effects of menopause such as brain fog, anxiety and a loss of confidence. These symptoms do have direct impact on productivity and sick days. I provide women of all ages education and practical ways to anticipate the menopause from the right nutrition to the right types of exercises and mindful activities. 

What it Involves:  Workshops on how to support your colleagues in menopause and how lifestyle medicine factors can make this transition in a women’s life a lot smoother and for those around them. Knowledge is only power if you start putting things into practice. With many women experiencing peri-menopausal symptoms as early as their 30s, often when they are climbing the career ladder. 


4. “Health Coaching to Confidence” :  

You will see this in your ROI: Better stamina and energy at work leading to less sick leave, better mental health and more productivity.

What it involves: This can be a bespoke 6 or 8 week programme depending on your needs to help make active changes in your day which drive better health parameters such as stabilising sugar levels, better cognition , reduced blood pressure and better gut health to name a few.

My 15 years in the NHS as a doctor and as a patient has really taught me the importance of looking after your health, not just on annual leave or after work but every single hour of the day. The human body is robust but delicate. Looking after our bodies helps increase stamina, longevity and defies ageing.

  • Execution: I will run the workshops and programmes from start to finish. I do not delegate my method to any other lifestyle medicine doctor or meditation teacher.
